Birth Doula

Leading up to & during birth

"It is your inner preparation that creates a safe birth. No matter how or where your birth takes place."

Sliding Scale $800-$1200

*Payment plans available.

I believe in natural and physiological birth and that your body knows what to do. My approach to pregnancy and birth is to surrender the process and let your intuition guide you. I believe feeling comfortable and safe is the key to an empowering and smooth birth, so my job is to help you find what feels right for you, your baby and family.

As your birth doula, I offer evidence-based, judgement free pregnancy and physiological birth education leading up to your birth helping you to foster trust in yourself and the birth process. I can help you create a birth plan, and provide resources to help support whichever birth path you choose. During your birth, I offer emotional and physical support such as labor positions, massage, breathing techniques and comforts as well as help you create a calm environment. With the education I provide leading up to your birth, you will feel more comfortable advocating for yourself before, during and after labor.

My basic doula package includes (3) 1-hour prenatal visits leading up to birth to prepare you for birth, ability to chat with me throughout your pregnancy, as well as 24/7 on call availability from 36 weeks of pregnancy, presence at your birth and (1-2) 1-hour follow up session post birth.

Birth Doula FAQ

Do I need a doula? / My partner isn't on board with hiring a doula - help!

You don't NEED a doula to give birth, however, evidence does show that having a doula increases your likelihood of having a spontaneous vaginal birth by 15%, decreases the use of medications/interventions by 10%, results in shorter labors by an average of 41 minutes, decreases the risk of C-section by 39%, and decreases dissatisfaction with birth by 31%.

How far do you travel?

I comfortably travel within ~1.5 hour radius of Machias, Me. If you're looking for birth support further than that, reach out and we can chat about your birth location, virtual services, or connecting you with another Doula who may be able to better serve you.

When should I hire a doula?

The sooner the better, however, it's never too late. The more time in advance you book, the more time we have to get to know each other and for me to support you in your journey to bringing new life into the world.

May your birth choices

reflect your hopes, not your fears.
